Indoor
Fountains - Modern Twist on an Old Idea
Indoor fountains have been popular for thousands of years. The first
recorded indoor fountains
were made by the ancient Egyptians, and the trend soon caught on all
over the Middle East. The Chinese were fond of indoor fountains too,
and incorporated them into the practice of Feng Shui. Today, indoor
fountains remain extremely popular, and are found everywhere from
corporate boardrooms to private homes. Today's indoor fountains take
many forms though. They can fit into any room and come in all styles.
That means everybody can make use of an indoor
fountain.
Wall
fountains are perhaps the most popular new kind of fountains.
Wall fountains, as the name suggests, are meant to be hung on a wall,
and they are something like a picture frame of water. A wall
fountain is generally made from a single piece of slate or glass,
housed in a frame of copper or steel. A wall fountain like this has
the advantage of being very compact. While some fountains sit in the
middle of a room, a wall fountain can be hung on the wall, and still
provide the soothing sounds and sights that fountains are prized for.
Modern designs like this mean that you can always find room for a
wall fountain.
Indoor fountains may have changed in their appearance, but they are
still valued for the same reasons. The movement of water in an indoor
fountain provides a pleasant background noise that promotes calm and
concentration. An indoor fountain can also provide much needed humidity
in the stale air inside many buildings. These indoor fountains also
may have other benefits. The negative ions produced by water turbulence
in an indoor fountain may elevate mood. Some studies have even suggested
that negative ions, like those produced by an indoor fountain, may
have an effect on clinical depression. Anybody can benefit from an
indoor fountain.
